Photographer and actor Dieter Matthes’ body of work has been presented in more than 30 solo exhibitions since 1978 in Germany and abroad. His images have been featured in a majority of German print media. In 2017, he received the Audience Award in the category Street photography on the world’s biggest curated online photo gallery 1x.com.

Nearly all images can be seen for the first time in an exhibition, especially the series “Leningrad-St. Petersburg” from 1992.

“Photography is the essenence of my life.
‘Street Life’ is the essence of my photography.
Being able to tell true stories is the essence of street photography.”
