Jugend fotografiert/Youth Photograpy

Jugend fotografiert is an exhibition and workshop series initiated by FOTOGALERIE Friedrichshain. It offers children and young people the opportunity to present their photographs in a professional gallery setting and to participate — under the guidance of an experienced team — in the process of creating an exhibition.

Since 2016, numerous Jugend fotografiert group exhibitions have been realized with many participants. The diverse results from independent workshops, extracurricular programs, art classes, and photography projects carried out in cooperation with schools and youth initiatives have been presented to a broad public audience.

Lieblingsorte/Favourite Places

In this project, we present personal favorite places of residents from the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Treptow-Köpenick, and Lichtenberg.

For each location, participants contributed their own photographs and short texts describing their connection to interesting, lively, quiet, or contemplative corners of their neighborhood or residential area.

30 Years After the Fall of the Wall

It has now been 30 years since the Berlin Wall ceased to exist. The few remaining fragments of stone serve as reminders and warnings. So too do the fragments in the minds of those who experienced the years before and after the fall of the Wall.

To ensure these memories are not forgotten, our project is dedicated to contemporary witnesses, particularly from Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Since 2019, we have been documenting their stories — kindly shared with us — as well as our own, as some of us personally experienced the transformation along the River Spree.

Media Education

For 20 years, Kulturring in Berlin e.V. has been active in the field of media education, particularly within European Union educational projects. The primary medium has been video — and through collaboration with the Fotogalerie, increasingly photography as well.
